Technical detail

How it's built

For the IT lead or the accountant who has to integrate it, audit it or sign off on it.

  • Every write to the regulatory system goes through an outbox with idempotency keys and is confirmed against the identifier the agency returns, so a retry after a timeout never creates a duplicate record or transfer.
  • Per-facility access keys on least-privilege service users, with key rotation and a rate governor that respects throttling responses and the agency's batch limits.
  • Polling with overlap for systems that push nothing, plus a nightly full reconciliation that feeds an exception queue with root-cause codes and a person to escalate to.
  • Raw regulatory requests and responses are kept for years. Compliance rules are versioned configuration with effective dates, so a rewritten rulebook ships as a setting.
  • Vendor APIs sit behind one server-side layer. Secrets never reach the browser, vendor data is corrected before it is shown, and a refused write is caught even when the vendor answers with success.
  • An event bus replaces automation flows. Every movement and posting is an event with retries, a delivery receipt and an audit trail, and a new automation is one more subscriber.
